Mr. William Wleh Koon is educated in Liberia. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Economics from the University of Liberia in March, 1983. He attended the West African Center for Agricultural Credit Training (WACACT) at the institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone and earned a Certificate in Agricultural Credit and Management in 1983. Also, Mr. Koon attended Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute in Boston, USA, where he earned a certificate in Project Analysis in 1984 and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBDF), Kingdom of Bahrain where he received a certificate in Credit and Finance in 2005.

He attended short term training courses in 2007 and awarded Certificates in leadership & Management, and Credit Risk & Portfolio Management from the West African Banking Consultants Ltd, Freetown, Sierra Leone. In 2010, he attended IFC’s training course,” Developing Business Plan for New Ventures/Small & Medium Enterprises” and received a Certificate.

Currently, Mr. William Wleh Koon is employed with LEDFC as the Credit Manager since it was established in October 2007. He has the oversight responsibilities which include screening and interviewing small and medium-sized enterprise applicants, assessing project business plans, and supervising credit proposals preparation for submission to the Investment Committee for their review and decision-making.

Mr. Koon worked for the Agricultural Cooperative Development Bank (ACDB) from 1983 to 1990. While at ACDB, he held a number of key positions which included Credit Analyst, Financial Analyst, Assistant Manager of Credit Appraisal and Analysis, Assistant Manager for Loan Administration, Research Manager and Credit Manager. He also worked with the National Women Association of Liberia (NAWOCOL) as the Project Manager from 1996-1998. He then worked with the Lutheran World Service/Lutheran world Federation from 1999 to 2001 as a Microcredit Coordinator and the Liberian Bank for Development and Investment from 2001 to 2007, and served in a number of key positions which included Credit Officer, Officer–in-charge Credit Department, Assistant Vice President of Credit Appraisals and Assistant Vice President of International Trade Finance.
